General:

Supervisory Responsibility:

No direct supervisory duties. Management of projects includes coordinating contracted freelancers.

Work Environment:

This is a remote position available to those residing in and eligible to work in the United States. Includes possible, yet rare, overnight travel.

Remote work doesn’t take the place of childcare. An employee is expected to have childcare scheduled during daytime work hours, other than in an emergency situation (i.e. sick child, etc.)

Unseen provides the use of a laptop for employees working 20+ hours/week. Employees provide for their office space needs (workspace set up, internet, etc.) Remote workspace must include high-speed internet sufficient for frequent video meetings and be in a non-distracting professional environment.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This is primarily a sedentary role. The employee is regularly required to communicate effectively; to use hands and fingers to type, handle documents, and operate office equipment; and to reach with hands and arms. Vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Psychological Demands:

This position requires exposure to difficult trafficking stories that can be emotionally disturbing— including accounts of assault, inhumane conditions, and abuse. While we try to keep exposure as minimal as possible, the Unseen team is responsible for writing copy and producing materials for anti-trafficking organizations and their donors. Some exposure is necessary for understanding and

explaining both trafficking realities and a partner’s work to address them.

We avoid sensationalism and seek to follow Ethical Storytelling best practices. We believe that hope and highlighting the strength of survivors is more powerful than triggering guilt or fear in a donor. We aim to cultivate educated donors who understand the complex factors contributing to trafficking vulnerability and who are inspired to invest in long-term, far-reaching solutions.

Position Type / Expected Hours of Work:

Exempt position. Standard M-F work week but may be required to work occasional evenings to meet with international partners. While this position is remote, our team keeps regular daytime business hours (~40-45 hrs/week) and remains in contact throughout the work day.

Other Duties:

Please note this job description doesn’t cover a comprehensive list of activities or responsibilities required of the employee for this job. As a growing organization new responsibilities can arise, especially when we learn an employee’s strengths and skills. Duties and responsibilities may change.

Salary + Benefits:

Salary is comparable to industry standards for a small nonprofit. Titles/positions are banded within job levels for equity. Experience and skill set are taken into account when determining salary and title. Benefits are comprehensive, including paid holidays, vacation, and sick leave; medical, dental, and vision benefits; and a matching 401K opportunity.

Salary: Hiring range $55,000-65,000 annually, based on experience/job fit.
